Kent has over twenty-five years of fire protection experience. Kent got his start in the business working in the shop for his father-in-law's (Al Carnegie) company in the mid- 1980's and proceeded to climb the company ladder as the years went by.
Kent got his hands in all aspects of the fire protection business as his experience grew. After starting in the shop, he moved on to product procurement, system design and hydraulics, project management and engineering, and finally to sales and office administration. He has been retained as, and qualified as an expert with regards to residential fire sprinkler systems in the state of New Jersey. Kent holds personal certifications in New Jersey for fire sprinkler systems, special hazards fire systems, and fire alarm systems
Kent has always been very active promoting the use of fire sprinklers for both life safety and property protection. He has been elected to and is currently serving on the National Fire Sprinkler Association's (NFSA) Board of Directors representing contractors from the Mid-Atlantic region. He currently serves as the Chairman of the Contractor's Council of the National Fire Sprinkler Association and Chairman of the Best Practices Committee for the NFSA as well. Kent was elected to and served three consecutive terms as Chairman of the N.J. Chapter of the National Fire Sprinkler Association before being elected to the NFSA National's Board of Directors. He is a long time member of the New Jersey Fire Sprinkler Advisory Board (NJFSAB) and is currently Chairman of the Residential committee for the N.J. Chapter of the National Fire Sprinkler Association.
Kent has been integral in the NJFSAB's commitment to educating local and state fire inspectors and officials with regards to fire sprinkler systems. Kent has developed, instructed or assisted with all six of the New Jersey state accredited courses run by NJFSAB for the training of local and state fire inspectors and officials. He is a founding member of the Coalition for Safe Student Housing which was successful in getting a bill drafted and law implemented requiring all dormitories, fraternities and sororities to be retrofitted with fire sprinkler systems in response to a tragic fire at Seton Hall University. Kent is currently an active member of the Residential Fire Coalition which is working on measures to protect all new single and two-family homes with fire sprinkler systems here in the state of New Jersey.
In his free time Kent is an avid hockey fan, having coached both his sons in ice and inline hockey over the past ten years. He is a long-time NJ Devils season ticket holder. Kent and his wife Beth reside in Avon by the sea.
